Dear Kids,

Due to ill health and family obligations, I’ve had to make the difficult decision to retire at this time from writing and traveling.

I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve had over the past twenty years to draw attention to the many positive things kids and teens have done. Too often these days, 'kids' and 'violence' are linked in people's minds… but when I hear 'kids', my first thought is heroism. Young people have sharp reflexes, and when they see someone in trouble they don't stop to consider the risks (although we wish they would!) or to weigh out whose life is more important. They just do what they think is right-- sometimes while older people stand around and act useless.

Kids are natural born superheroes.

I congratulate organizations like the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, the Red Cross, and other groups which offer practical first aid training to our youth. Judging by the number of kid heroes I’ve interviewed who put their training to use, you’re doing a great job. Keep it up!

God bless and keep you,
